I live here. I am not a firm in another state with a High Springs landing page and a phone number that goes to a call center.
High Springs is a town of about six thousand people with more small businesses per block than anybody from outside would guess. Dive shops and tubing outfitters west of town on 340. Contractors and landscapers and tree crews. Restaurants on Main Street. Hair salons. People with trucks and trailers and one employee and a checking account doing three jobs at once.
Those are my people. I know what your season looks like, because I watch it go by outside my window.

The shape of the year here
Business in this part of the county runs on water and weather. Poe Springs, Blue Springs and Ginnie are all a few minutes west of town, Ichetucknee is over by Fort White, and a whole lot of local revenue arrives between spring break and Labor Day when the river is right. Then it goes quiet.
That matters to your books in a specific way. A business with a big summer and a thin January needs its estimated payments set against the real shape of the year, not divided into four equal guesses. It needs to know in August what it is going to owe, while the money is still in the account. I have watched people get hurt by this who did nothing wrong except pay their estimates evenly.
Construction and trades have the opposite problem. The work comes in bursts, the deposits come before the costs, and a good month on paper can be a bad month in the bank. Clean books tell you the difference. A shoebox does not.

Who I work with around here
High Springs first, because it is home. But Alachua is ten minutes down 441 and I have clients there. Newberry is a short run south and I have clients there too. Fort White is just over the Santa Fe in Columbia County and it is closer to my desk than most of Gainesville is.
Gainesville itself is about half an hour southeast, and I make that drive when it makes sense to sit in a room together. Otherwise we do it exactly the way I do it for a client in Ohio. Lake City and Live Oak are an easy run up 441 and 41, and both have the kind of small independent businesses that get overcharged by firms that never come see them.
You do not have to drive to Gainesville to get work done to a Gainesville standard. That is really the point of this page.

In person or not, your choice
If you are local, you can hand me a folder. Some people want that and I understand it completely. There is something about physically giving somebody the pile that makes it stop being your problem.
If you would rather not drive anywhere, the portal works the same for a client in Alachua as it does for a client in Arizona. Most of my local clients end up half and half: documents through the portal all year, and a real conversation in person once, usually before tax season.
